The new Solicitors Code of Conduct comes into force on 1 July 2007 and enshrines core duties of solicitors which are:

Upholding justice and the rule of law

Integrity

Independence

Acting in the best interests of clients

Providing good standards of service to clients

Not to behave in a way which diminishes public confidence in the profession
