Accident Claims
Road Traffic Accidents
Anyone who drives a motor vehicle in a public place must carry insurance to cover damage and injury resulting from accidents involving that vehicle. Even where a driver is uninsured or untraceable, a scheme run by the Motor Insurers Bureau ensures that losses and injury caused by the driver of a motor vehicle are covered by insurance.
If you are injured or suffer loss in a motor accident which was not your fault you are likely to obtain compensation, and unless the claim is a very small one, the insurance company of the person responsible will also pay the cost of processing the claim.
There are many people and organizations who may offer you help eg your garage, the hospital, your insurance broker or even your own insurance company. They have varying degrees of experience in these claims, and often process the claim via correspondence rather than face to face, and may be at a quite distant location.
We offer our clients a free diagnostic interview (at which we always discuss costs) and recommend that you take advantage of that at a very early stage. In appropriate cases where injuries make it difficult for you to get out, we will visit you at home.
Experience shows that until afterwards many clients of ours have been unaware that they can have their claims processed by us without any additional cost. We deal with many cases of this kind and can therefore give an early opinion on liability and likely level of the claim. Although levels of compensation in this country are less than those in for instance, the US, we often find clients are surprised at how much they are entitled to.
We also provide advice to those who have been responsible for accidents or who are accused of a fault.
Accidents at Work
Accidents at work generally require careful and sympathetic handling, as frequently the injured person remains in the employ of the company or firm and either fears loss of their job or is reluctant to be critical of superiors and/or workmates. In such circumstances, or even when the employment has been terminated, it is important to have experienced and confidential advice about your rights. As with other accident claims we offer a free diagnostic interview when we assess the merits of a claim and give a preliminary estimate of its value.
We use experts with a proven track record in advising and assisting in the preparation of claims for industrial injuries eg breach of Health and Safety Regulations, failure to properly guard a machine or recognise the need to rotate work which is particularly repetitive.
Accidents at work can leave you with debilitating injuries which will affect your ability to earn a living in years to come, and it is always in your interests to investigate a claim if you believe you have not been at fault. Such injuries need not be the result of a single incident and may result from exposure to unsatisfactory work practices and situations over a period of time eg associated with a computer work station. Modern Health & Safety Regulations impose stringent rules about such matters and many employers are not complying with them.
