Definition of Domestic Violence Broadened

In Yemshaw v Hounslow London Borough Council the Court recently ruled that psychological as well as physical violence may be taken into account when judging whether a victim of domestic violence is deemed to be intentionally homeless.  Previously local authorities would consider that victims had made themselves intentionally homeless if there had been no physical violence.

It appears that this case could be cited as authority for the broader interpretation of domestic violence in support of injunction applications between spouses and cohabitants.
