The government has announced it is going ahead with the plan to increase Court fees. The fee for issuing a money claim worth more than £10,000 will be increased to 5% of the sum claimed subject to a maximum fee of £10,000. The fee for claims of less than £10,000 will not be increased at present. It is likely the fee increase will mean a reduction in the number of claims made and the parties will instead be resorting to other methods for resolving disputes such as mediation.
