New statutory rates of pay have been proposed by the government and are expected to come into effect the week beginning 9 April 2012.
- Statutory sick pay will increase from £81.60 per week to £85.85 per week.
- The standard rate of statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay and maternity allowance will increase from £128.73 per week to £135.45 per week.
- The weekly lower earnings limit for National Insurance contributions, below which employees are not entitled to statutory sick, paternity, adoption, and maternity pay (although still eligible for maternity allowance) will increase from £102 to £107.
The rates are subject to approval by Parliament but are unlikely to change.
