Facebook and Divorce
The Independent confirmed that social media has become a leading cause of divorce, with 50% of British individuals admitting they have secretly checked their partner’s Facebook account.
It was found that the most common reasons for checking their spouses’ Facebook was to discover who their partner is talking to, keep tabs on their movements and find out if they are telling the truth about their social life.
A UK law firm polled 2,000 people and found that one in seven had contemplated divorcing their spouse due to their social media habits.
Around 17% of those polled, stated that they had argued with their partner about their social media habits, whilst 14% admitted they checked the websites with the sole intention of finding evidence of infidelity.
