Permission to Appeal ‘Absurd’ Conditions in Contact Order
Family and Child Law
In a case highlighted last year, a father criticised the ‘absurd’ court order which banned him from returning text messages and phone calls from his children.
The man had been involved in a lengthy custody battle with the mother. A judge had made an order barring the father from calling or texting his children despite the fact that they lived with him for part of the week. Under the order the children were free to contact their father but if he missed their call or message he was not allowed to initiate contact by responding to them.
The father was granted permission to appeal.
