Family Law
Plans to reduce the legal aid budget by £350 million have suffered defeat in the House of Lords.
The proposal to reduce the support available to victims of domestic violence has been opposed. The Lords also voted to ensure that there was access to legal services to effectively meet people’s needs.
To try and reverse this decision the government may now need to argue that these changes are primarily financial decisions.
