Family Procedure Rules 2010
From 6 April 2011 the Family Procedure Rules 2010 come into effect. These will replace the Family Procedure Rules 1991 – the code that governs the operation of family work in the County Courts. The new rules are designed to create a single unified code of practice for matters heard in the Magistrate’s Court, County Court or High Court. They also aim to modernise the language used and importantly, streamline procedure.
The new rules will govern all Applications issued from 6 April 2011 and also include the compulsory requirement for mediation before making an application to the Court.
