Cohabiting Couples Warned Over Property Rights on Separation
Unmarried Couples
Cohabiting couples are being warned by campaigners to draw up a trust agreement to protect their property rights should their relationship end. At present cohabiting couples have no specific legal rights over a shared property even if they have children together. This can lead to lengthy court battles as seen in the ongoing case being heard by the Supreme Court.
If you are cohabitants purchasing property or an unmarried co-owner wishing to review your rights please contact our Family or Property departments for a free initial appointment to discuss your options.
