James graduated from Southampton University with an LLB (Hons).  James went on to study at the College of Law Guildford obtaining a distinction.  He qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and has been working in the Hailsham area since shortly after qualification.

James joined Hart Reade in 2017 after a period of paternity leave and works from the Hailsham office.  He was appointed as an Associate in May 2019.


James’ strengths lie in building good relations with all parties involved in a transaction. He believes strongly in keeping everyone up-to-date with progress.

James also works methodically to ensure matters are progressed as efficiently as possible.


James prides himself on providing cost effective solutions to his clients’ specific needs. He is prepared to look at situations logically and vary from the standard course of action where the situation requires.

James understands that legal jargon can be unclear and frustrating.  He uses plain English and is happy to discuss any points which are not clear.

James Fletcher was outstanding in his capacity as our Conveyance Solicitor during the tricky process of selling our property.  He put in long hours, always explained clearly how best to overcome problems that arose and was always approachable.  His Assistant, Vicki, was also superb and professional.
