Children
The Department for Education has announced new rules that set out the need for children to have contact with both mothers and fathers.
As part of an over-haul of the family justice system children will have a legal right to maintain a relationship with both parents.
The move has been welcomed as a positive step forward for children’s rights by ensuring they have an ongoing relationship with both parents.
Ministers have however ruled out a legal guarantee to equal access. A move that has disappointed some father’s rights groups.
