As recently reported, a District Judge denied the publication of details of a divorce as it would infringe the right to a private life of those involved in the case.
During the case financial details of the husband’s father and a business enterprise were disclosed. These details were included in the publication ban due to the risk of damage and embarrassment and a possible risk to life. Lawyers argued that the financial arrangements involved were of serious public interest.
The judge upheld the ban as the matters of particular interest to the media related mainly to individuals that were not directly involved in the divorce proceedings.
