A report published by the Work and Pensions Select Committee on 3 July 2011 recommends changes to the child maintenance system. The report proposes that non-resident parents should be made to pay child maintenance through direct deductions from their salaries or bank accounts.
It is suggested such a system would be more efficient and ensure the correct amount of child maintenance is paid on time.
