Family and Children
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has announced a change in the law to stop social workers preventing white families adopting children from other ethnicities.
The government issued guidance last year to councils in which they were urged not to make ethnicity a barrier to adoption. The new legislation will now enshrine this in law.
The legislation aims to help cut the time it takes to place a child for adoption after they have been taken into care. At present the current waiting time is over two and a half years, the target is just 14 months.
