The Child Support Agency (CSA) has reported a significant increase in the use of enforcement against parents that refuse to pay child support.
According to data more than 5000 CSA cases are over £50,000 in arrears. Deduction orders have also increased from 335 to 1055 in the last three years.
The government is proposing to bring the child maintenance system back under ministerial control. An order in parliament proposes to reintegrate the CSA into the Department for Work and Pensions to ensure full accountability.
