The secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, announced on 11 February 2013 that the inheritance tax nil rate band would be frozen at £325,000 for a further three years from 2015-16, to meet part of the costs of changes to the funding of social care. This will mean that the nil rate band will be frozen until at least 5 April 2019.
