Queen’s Speech Review
The Queen’s Speech in May set out the Government’s legislative plans for the year ahead.
Nineteen bills and draft bills were planned including the Children and Families Bill.
This Bill will make significant changes to;
Adoption: The speed of the process will become the primary concern over matching children with parents of the same ethnicity.
Family Law: Care cases must be completed within 6 months.
Flexible parental leave: Mothers and fathers will be able to share parental leave if they wish; allowing them to use the time to better fit their needs.
Special Educational Needs (SEN): Parents of children with SEN will be given more choice. Parents or young people will also be given the right to a personal budget for their support.
