Registering a Lasting Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney

Under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 the law requires that there is a prescribed period between the submission of a Lasting Power of Attorney and its registration by The Office of the Public Guardian.  This period of time it to allow any interested parties the opportunity to object to the registration if necessary.  From the 1 April 2013 this period was reduced from 6 weeks down to 4 weeks in the hope that it will speed up the registration process.
