Top Tips When Moving House

Moving home can be top of the list alongside marriage and kids as one of the most stressful events of your life. Here are some top tips to tackle those uprooting troubles:

Get packing..ASAP!

All those non essentials- the mantelpiece ornaments, your bookshelf, the fine china. This will save time and will lessen the rush on the run up to moving day.

Make a list of all the people you need to contact

The water company, your doctors, the kids school, the vets. All the numbers that you’ll need to call to notify that you’ve changed address to avoid your post getting sent to your old house.

Call around the removals companies so you have a back up in case your number one is unavailable for your completion day.

Removal companies will ask for a deposit so don’t book before you have exchanged as the completion date could change at the last minute and this could cost you. Ring around and get quotes and make a list of your top three early on to avoid the panic of not being able to find a company at the last minute.

Make an essentials box for each room

This doesn’t have to be big, just all the things you are going to need for the first few days while you settle in – the kettle, a few mugs and tea bags for the kitchen; a bottle of shampoo and some toothpaste for the bathroom. The last thing you want to be doing after a hard day moving is to be hunting through the pots and pans for your pyjamas at 11pm.
