We Welcome Charlotte Clarke

We are delighted to introduce Charlotte Clarke who has joined our Property Team.

An established property solicitor, Charlotte brings with us invaluable conveyancing experience and a welcoming smile.

Are you from Eastbourne or did you move here for work?

I am East Sussex born and bred, from Brighton originally.  I live in Uckfield, just on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, with my husband, two children and our golden lab Murphy.

What attracted you to property law?

I told my parents when I was ten years old that I wanted to be a solicitor.  I qualified in March 2008.  I loved Land Law when I was studying for my law degree.  I am a big reader, I love words and knowing what they mean.  Property law is so interesting. I love reading old Deeds and covenants and being able to interpret them and explain them in a way that my clients can understand.  Even after 15 and a half years of being qualified, I still get a thrill when I do an exchange!

How do you de-stress?

I read, a lot.  I love the classics.  My favourite book in the world is Jane Eyre and I have just finished reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.  I am also into my music; I used to sing, but that is now limited to the shower and the car on the journey in!

What can clients do to make the sale of their property go through more smoothly?

I think it is important to ‘front-load’ a sale.  Complete all of the forms early on and thoroughly, find all of your certificates, guarantees and warranties, and provide us with as much information as you can. I like to go through forms with clients.  If that is not possible, I check through the forms and the title, and try to anticipate any enquiries we may receive.

How are you finding Hart Reade?

Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.  I feel very comfortable here already and I am excited about my future here.
