Discrimination
The ban on age discrimination in the provision of goods, services and facilities came into force on 1 October 2012. The ban was introduced in the Equality Act 2010 and was due to come into force in April 2012. This was delayed by consultations on exceptions to the ban.
The government has introduced a new exception allowing both private and public section providers to use age to determine eligibility for discounts and concessions.
