Statutory Redundancy Rate and Compensation Limit
From 6 April 2014, “a week’s pay” for the purposes of calculating statutory redundancy payments and the basic award of compensation for unfair dismissals increased from £450 to £464.
The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal increased from £74,200 to £76,574. This remains subject to the overall limit of one year’s gross pay introduced in July 2013, so the maximum compensatory award (other than where the dismissal is for discriminatory reasons, or due to whistleblowing or for raising certain health and safety issues) will be the lower of a year’s pay or £76,574.
